As you might see soon, english is not my mothertongue. And since english speaking people are used to others stumble around in their language, I hope I don't make too much of an idiot of myself here. So - my deepest apologies adressed to the English Language for not worshipping her better.

July, 20th in Germany

Yes, in Germany this is some kind of special day. At least for people who read newspapers or watch TV where no Talkshows or reality shows are shown.

I must admit, with all this so called "heroism" I have some kind of unhappy feeling for it. Let's face some things - the plotters weren't resistance finghters like others, for example the Scholl-siblings. The plotters were people who had til this date participated on the system and as far as I can see it, they didn't want to murder Hitler for what he has done to the Jews or so, they did want to end his regime because they were worried about his tactics for several reasons.

Okay, a reason is a reason, and it would have done, if they would have just been successfull. But would that have ended the Nazi Horror?
I'd doubt it.
I think it needed some kind of really, really bitter ending so it was really clear that Germany had lost, lost, lost this war. It's brutal to say this when one thinks how many people died between this date and the end of the war, but from the perspective now, it might have some logic.

What I am happy for is that this plot showed, that at least there have been people trying something. Even when they haven't been crowned with success.
